How to Improve Your Resume: An Evidence-First Workflow

Make an inventory before rewriting

List projects, recurring responsibilities, tools, qualifications and results you can explain. Note your contribution and any information that cannot be shared publicly. This becomes an evidence bank, not a resume that includes everything.

Compare the target posting with that inventory. Mark requirements you can demonstrate and those you cannot. An omitted skill and a genuine qualification gap require different responses.

Improve the strongest relevant bullets

For each selected example, describe an action, scope and practical result. Add numbers when they clarify the work and are supported by records. Avoid changing your job title or inventing outcomes to match the posting.

Move relevant material where a reader can find it. A shorter resume is not automatically better if it removes essential context, and a longer one is not stronger because it lists more tasks.

Review and preserve the final version

Check facts, terminology and readability before exporting. Inspect the resulting file and review any application fields filled from it. Save the submitted version with the posting.
