AI, ATS and Resume Checkers: Understand the Difference

An employer hiring system and a candidate-facing AI resume checker serve different purposes. Compare their roles without assuming that one tool can reveal another system private selection rules.

Employer software supports a hiring workflow

An applicant tracking system can organize applications, support review and apply configured rules. Greenhouse documents application rules and a review stage as separate capabilities. The product name does not establish how a particular employer configured its process.

Some products offer additional matching or AI features. Check current vendor documentation for a specific feature rather than assuming every application is ranked by the same model. This page does not publish a universal scoring formula.

A resume checker works from the information you provide

MatchRate uses your resume and a job description to generate feedback. It can suggest wording or identify a possible gap in those inputs, but it does not see the employer account, candidate pool or private decision criteria.

A high score is not proof of eligibility or a hiring prediction. Check whether each suggestion accurately describes your work and whether an apparent missing skill is already expressed differently.

Use AI for a review you can verify

Compare the output with your original facts. Reject invented qualifications, numbers and responsibilities. Follow the employer file and application instructions, and review populated fields after uploading.

Use the result to improve clarity and decide what to investigate. If an employer gives explicit feedback, prioritize that information over guesses about a hidden algorithm.

Before you finish

  • Employer software and candidate tools are distinguished.
  • Each suggested edit is accurate.
  • Application questions are answered truthfully.
  • Scores are treated as guidance.

Compare your resume with a specific job

MatchRate provides AI suggestions based on your resume and the job description. Review every change for accuracy. Its score does not reveal the employer's screening rules or guarantee an interview.
