Clinical data manager resume: example bullets and ATS keywords
Clinical data managers make sure trial data is complete, consistent and ready for analysis. Hiring managers want to see the full data life cycle on your CV, from database build to lock, along with the standards and systems you've used.
Keywords to mirror where accurate
Data management plan (DMP), case report form (CRF/eCRF) design, EDC build and user acceptance testing (UAT), edit checks, data validation, query management, medical coding (MedDRA, WHODrug), SAE reconciliation, external data reconciliation, database lock, CDISC (CDASH, SDTM), 21 CFR Part 11, ICH-GCP, Medidata Rave, Oracle InForm, Veeva Vault EDC, SAS, SQL.
Example bullets
- Led data management for [X] studies from eCRF design through to database lock.
- Wrote data management plans and edit check specifications, then ran UAT on the EDC build.
- Managed query resolution with sites, keeping open queries within agreed limits ahead of interim analysis.
- Reconciled SAE data between the safety database and EDC before lock.
- Coded adverse events and medications using MedDRA and WHODrug.
Coming from a site or CRC role
If you have worked at a site, you already know eCRFs, queries and source documents from the other side. Frame that experience in data-management terms: data entry accuracy, query turnaround and working with monitors.
ATS tips
- Spell out standards once: "Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC)".
- Name your EDC systems in both your Skills line and the relevant bullets.
- Use standard headings and one column; avoid putting your study list in a table.
- Match the advert's title exactly in your headline if it fits your experience, for example "Clinical Data Manager" versus "Clinical Data Coordinator".
Before you apply
Read the advert twice: once for the duties and once for the exact words it uses. Where your experience matches, use the same wording in your summary and bullets, so both the ATS and the recruiter can see the fit at a glance. Leave out anything you can't talk through confidently at interview.
